First, the good news. The second script is finished. Now for the bad. Due to circumstances beyond his control, our translator has resigned. This means nothing gets done until a new translator can be found. In the meantime, I’ll be working on my game backlog.

The script has been hacked and sent to the translator. Boo-yah! We’re finally making progress.

Now the question is how to go about releasing the translation. My personal preference is #1 on the poll, which gives people a taste of the game, but allows for a polished product, with inconsistanties between routes at a minimum. The demo, by the way, would be a standalone release based on the first Japanese demo.

Dawning Blue Translations is pleased to announce its first visual novel translations project, Purple Software’s Ashita no Kimi to Autame Ni (Till I Reach Your Tomorrow.) The game won several Game of the Year awards for its excellent artwork, and was runner-up in many other catagories such as scenario and music. I chose AsuKimi as my first translation project because it’s a personal favorite of mine, and I wanted to share it with everyone else.

AsuKimi tells the story of Yashiro Shuuji’s return to Mikaze island, where he spent his childhood. He’s reunited with his best friend from those days, but she doesn’t remember him. Actually, she doesn’t remember anything that happened more than a year ago, when she showed up out of the blue after being missing for seven years. It seems that people on the island who go into the woods get spirited away by the gods to another world, or so local legend says. Not that anybody believes that old superstition. And yet…
